Masayoshi Son – Estimated Net Worth Today: $21B.

Masayoshi Son founded and runs mobile telecom and investment giant SoftBank Group and is chairman of UK-based Arm Holdings.

Son is known for his assertive and unconventional investment strategies, including a $20 million investment in Alibaba in 2000, which is now worth billions of dollars. He is also known for his ambitious vision of a world powered by artificial intelligence, which he calls “Singularity”.

Mr. Son’s first venture into technology was with UC Berkeley physics professor Forrest Mozer. They created and patented a pocket dictionary. Sharp purchased the technology for $456,000 in 1979.
Adjusted for inflation, this is equivalent to about $1 million today.
