Title: Innovations by Madhusudan Reddy Kondam

Introduction

Madhusudan Reddy Kondam is an accomplished inventor based in State College, PA (US). He has made significant contributions to the field of catalysis, particularly through his innovative methods for preparing highly active catalysts.

Latest Patents

Madhusudan Reddy Kondam holds 2 patents. His latest patents include a method for preparing a highly active, unsupported high surface-area MoS2 catalyst. This invention presents a new and simple method of decomposing ammonium tetrathiomolybdate (ATTM) in an organic solvent with added water under hydrogen pressure. Model compound reactions of 4-(1-naphthylmethyl)bibenzyl (NMBB) were conducted at temperatures ranging from 350 to 425 degrees Celsius under hydrogen pressure. The results demonstrated that the Mo sulfide catalysts generated from ATTM with added water were significantly more effective for C—C bond cleavage and hydrogenation of aromatic moieties compared to those generated from ATTM alone. Two-step tests indicated that while the addition of water is effective for generating highly active Mo sulfide catalysts, water itself does not promote catalytic conversion. The removal of water after the decomposition of ATTM with added water at 350-400 degrees Celsius under hydrogen pressure by hot purging yields a highly active Mo sulfide catalyst.
