A feed device () for a microtome, in particular for a cryostat microtome, for setting the cut thickness of the specimen () to be sectioned, is described. In order to set the cut thickness, either the cutting knife or the specimen holder () is mounted on a slide () in a slide guide () and is connected non-positively to a drive motor (). The drive motor () is connected either to an eccentric cam () or to a helical cam (), and the nonpositive connection between the motor () and the slide is accomplished via the eccentric cam () or the helical cam ().
