Abstract
In an elevating mechanism where an elevating mechanism carried so as to rise and fall along a fixed surface is moved up and down through a suspension member a braking mechanism is born by the elevating mechanism so as to pivot vertically. A tensile spring is provided on the braking mechanism for pivotally urging it to the direction close to the fixed surface while the suspension member is connected to the braking mechanism for pulling the braking mechanism in the direction apart from the fixed surface due to the weight of the elevating mechanism in opposition to the tensile spring When the suspension member is cut off, then the braking mechanism comes into contact with and digs into the fixed surface by action of the tensile spring so that the elevating mechanism can be stopped from falling.
