Abstract

An electrophoretic display apparatus has an electrophoretic layer interposed between a first electrode and a second electrode each provided on the inner surface side of each of a pair of substrates and a boundary layer interposed between the first electrode and the electrophoretic layer. When the boundary layer has a thickness of Tand a volume resistivity of ρand the electrophoretic layer has a thickness of Tand a volume resistivity of ρ, the thickness and the volume resistivity of the boundary layer satisfy the formula (ρ/T)≧1×10Ω, and the thickness and the volume resistivity of the boundary layer and the electrophoretic layer satisfy the formula (ρ·T)/(ρ·T)≦1/9.
