Abstract

A new process for producing a 2-(aryloxymethyl)benzaldehyde compound and the like are provided. More particularly, a process for producing a 2-(aryloxymethyl)benzaldehyde compound represented by formula (4) comprising step (A) of hydrolyzing a compound represented by the following formula (1); and step (B) of reacting a compound represented by formula (2) obtained in step (A) and a compound represented by formula (3) or a salt thereof is provided; in formulae, X, Xand Xeach represent independently a chlorine atom, a bromine atom or an iodine atom, Q, Q, Qand Qeach represent independently a hydrogen atom or a halogen atom, and Ar represents a phenyl group optionally having a substituent).
