Abstract
A method of manufacturing a honeycomb structure including a honeycomb unit includes causing inorganic particles to contain water. The inorganic particles have a specific surface area of approximately 50 m/g or more. Raw material paste for the honeycomb unit is prepared. The raw material paste includes a molding aid, water, and the inorganic particles containing water. The raw material paste is molded into a honeycomb molded body. The honeycomb molded body is fired to obtain the honeycomb unit. The honeycomb unit have a plurality of cells extending from a first end face to a second end face of the honeycomb unit along a longitudinal direction of the honeycomb unit and is separated by a plurality of cell walls.
