Methods are disclosed for the production of high concentrations of ethanol from biomass usingas the ethanologen.is grown under conditions of low impeller agitation with high concentration of insoluble solids in a saccharification-fermentation mixture during a simultaneous saccharification and fermentation reaction for the production of high concentrations of ethanol.
