Abstract
The present invention refers to tricyclic diterpenes and their derivatives of the formulae (I) and (II), wherein Ris hydrogen or C-alkyl; Ris hydroxy, C-acyloxy, hydroxymethyl, 1,3-dihydroxypropyl or C-alkyl; Rand Rindependently from each other are hydrogen, hydroxy, hydroxymethyl, C-acyloxy or C-alkoxy; Ris C-alkyl, hydroxymethyl carboxy or methoxycarbonyl; Ris hydrogen, hydroxymethyl, methoxy, oxo or C-acyloxy; Ris hydrogen, or Rand Rtaken together are —CH—O— or —O—CH—; or Rand Rtaken together are —CO—O—, —O—CO—, —CH—O— or —O—CH—; Ris hydrogen, or Rand Rtogether form a bond; Rand Rindependently from each other are C-alkyl, carboxy, x-hydroxy-Cx-alkyl (with x being an integer from 1 to 6), or C-alkoxycarbonyl with the proviso that at least one of Rand Ris C-alkyl; Rand Rare both hydrogen or Rand Rtogether are oxo, with the further proviso for formula (I) that if Ris hydroxy Ris C-alkyl, for use as medicaments for the treatment of a disorder connected to impaired neurotransmission, as well as to dietary and pharmaceutical compositions and their uses.
