A steam iron having a boiling compartment () for producing steam and a steam distribution circuit with a smoothing brush () including a head () equipped with at least one hole () for emitting a flow of steam, characterized in that it contains a steam flow acceleration device () that generates a puff of air to increase the steam flow rate at the outlet of the smoothing brush ().
