Abstract
A spray-dried starch hydrolysate agglomerate product has a dextrose equivalent between 5 and 35, a moisture content <6% by weight, an unpacked bulk density between 0.4 and 0.6 g/cm, compressibility less than 10%, particle sizes <5% by weight is >500 micron and <5% by weight is <53 micron, average particle size between 150-250 micron, a mechanical stability of >95%, a static angle of repose <45°, and dissolution speed <180 seconds. Spraying onto a solid powder material, a liquid material atomised by means of one or more two-fluid nozzles. Fluid heats and conveys this material. Injecting the solid powder in the top of the drying tower, the trajectory of the powder crosses the spray pattern of the atomised liquid. The liquid is atomised by one or more two-fluid nozzles is a starch hydrolysate solution using steam as the atomizing fluid.
