A method of treating organic matter-containing waste liquid, which is formed as a byproduct in a plant for the production of oxygen-containing compounds or liquid hydrocarbons (including liquid fuel oil and chemicals, which are produced from natural gas through a synthetic gas), having the step of: treating the waste liquid at a high temperature of 40° C. or higher, while being aerated, by using a membrane bioreactor () that is equipped with a separation membrane ().
