Abstract

Clients are able to use a service to obtain detailed path information. The service provides detailed information concerning which links and switches are traversed in a path in a cluster. The service allows clients to make informed decisions about which paths to use when multiple paths are available. The cluster includes a fabric of switches and a plurality of ports. A client makes a request to the service. The request identifies a source and a destination of a path. The service is operative to send a response to the request. The response identifies one or more links and switches between the source and the destination.
