Abstract

The present invention relates to a spot-type disc brake for automotive vehicles and an associated brake pad with a retaining device for the brake pad ( ) on an actuating means ( ), with the brake pad ( ) being additionally clamped to a pad mounting support. These two functions are assumed by two separate spring means ( ) according to the present invention. A first spring means ( ) clamps the brake pad ( ) axially with respect to the actuating means ( ), especially a brake piston, and a second spring means ( ) ensures the radially rattle-free clamping engagement of the brake pad ( ) with respect to an associated pad mounting support. Both spring means ( ) are active irrespective of each other so that undesirable transverse forces on the actuating means ( ), i.e., vertically to the axial direction ( ), are avoided.
