Abstract
The nozzle body ( ) of a fuel injection valve has a central bore ( ) in which a nozzle needle ( ) is guided. The tip ( ) of the nozzle body ( ) has a tapered valve seat ( ) which forms together with the sealing edge ( ) of the nozzle needle ( ) a valve ( ) which controls the flow of fuel to the injection holes ( ) in the nozzle tip ( ). Underneath the sealing edge ( ) a circumferential groove ( ) is disposed in the truncatoconical needle tip ( ) at the level of which the injection holes ( ) are disposed, so that when the valve ( ) opens the nozzle needle ( ) is axially stabilized and the shaping of the injected jet is improved.
