Component placement machine with a frame (,) and a transport device (,) for transporting printed circuit boards (,) in an X-direction, which transport device is provided with a transport belt (,) having an outer surface (,) on which printed circuit boards (,) are positioned. During the transport of printed circuit boards (,) as well as during the placement of components (,) on the printed circuit boards (,) an edge portion (,) of the printed circuit board which extends in the X-direction is retained between the outer surface (,) of the transport belt (,) and a contact surface (,) of the frame (,). The outer surface (,) of the transport belt has a relatively high coefficient of friction in contact with said edge portion (,) of the printed circuit board, whereas said contact surface (,) of the frame has a relatively low coefficient of friction in contact with said edge portion (,) of the printed circuit board.
