Abstract
A method and apparatus for providing regenerative and friction braking on a vehicle having one or more wheels driven by a drive motor includes a master cylinder (,), a hydraulic control unit (,), a brake control unit (,), a drive motor control unit (,) and a drive motor (,). The brake control unit commands build and dump valve pairs (,) such that brake forces generated at the driven left and right wheels (,) are a combination of the regenerative braking and hydraulic braking, the hydraulic braking being gradually reduced and the regenerative braking being gradually increased during transitions from anti-skid braking control to wheel speed based proportioning and regenerative braking control.
