Abstract
The present invention provides compounds of the general formula: ##STR1## wherein R is a trifluoromethyl radical or a cyano group. The present invention also provides processes for the preparation of these compounds, as well as reagents containing them. The present invention is also concerned with the use of these compounds as .beta.-galactosidase substrates, especially in a CEDIA system.
