Abstract

The regulatory sequence for a glucose regulated protein has been isolated. When fused into suitable expression vectors within reading relationship of a desired polypeptide DNA sequence, the resulting hybrid gene can be induced to high levels by glucose starvation, or calcium shock, or by denaturing reagents such as .beta.-mercaptoethanol, in a variety of host systems. Further, the hybrid gene can also be regulated by temperature when it is introduced into temperature-sensitive host systems such as the temperature-sensitive mutant of Chinese hamster cells or other systems having a compatible mutation.
