Novel saccharide derivatives of protocatechualdehyde represented by the general formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 represents a hydrogen atom or a benzoyl group, and R.sup.2 represents an alkyl group. The method for preparing thereof and the use of the compound as antiinflammatory agents.
