Abstract

A upgrading method of low-rank coal containing higher ash and moisture contents into coal decreased in ash content and decreased in moisture content and heightened in heating value includes subjecting the low-rank coal to a low-temperature dry distillation treatment, pulverizing the dry-distilled low-rank coal to form a coal-water slurry and adding a binder to the slurry to effect oil agglomeration of the coal and promote separation of the ash.
