Abstract

Described are oxyneopentyl alkanoate derivatives defined according to the structure: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 represents hydrogen or acetyl and R.sub.2 represents C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 lower alkyl; a novel process for preparing same according to the reactions: ##STR2## and organoleptic uses thereof for augmenting or enhancing the aroma or taste of perfume compositions, perfumed articles (e.g., solid or liquid anionic, cationic, nonionic or zwitterionic detergents, fabric softener compositions, fabric softener articles, perfumed polymers, cosmetic compositions and hair preparations), colognes, foodstuffs, chewing gums, medicinal products, chewing tobaccos, toothpastes, smoking tobaccos and smoking tobacco articles.
