Abstract

Described are intermediate mixtures of cyclic oxazo derivatives having the generic structure: ##STR1## wherein one of the dashed lines is a carbon carbon double bond and the other two dashed lines are carbon carbon single bonds and n is 0 or 1; R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.6 are each the same or different and each represents hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 lower alkyl; and R.sub.3, R.sub.4 and R.sub.5 are each the same or different and each represents hydrogen or methyl; as well as the precursor oxazo derivative having the structure: ##STR2## Such oxazo derivatives have as their primary use intermediates in reactions whereby mixtures of dihydro alpha ionone, dihydro beta ionone and dihydro gamma ionone or homologues thereof are produced.
