Abstract
In a process for producing phenylphosphonothioic dichloride by reacting benzene with thiophosphoryl trichloride, an improvement is characterized in that the reaction is conducted in the presence of a catalyst selected from the group consisting of Al, AlCl.sub.3, a combination of AlCl.sub.3, P.sub.2 S.sub.5 and PCl.sub.3, a combination of AlCl.sub.3 and P.sub.2 S.sub.5, and a combination of AlCl.sub.3 and PCl.sub.3, under the self-generated pressure of hydrogen chloride gas.
