Abstract
A driver circuit which has a switching device having a control electrode, a power supply side electrode, and a ground side electrode; a current detection circuit configured to detect a drive current flowing through the switching device; and a control circuit configured to set a voltage level of the control electrode to a first level, so that when a current value of the drive current exceeds a predetermined value, the drive current continues to flow but the current value of the drive current decreases, wherein the control circuit changes the voltage level of the control electrode from the first level to a second level so that when a period during which the current value of the drive current exceeds the predetermined value reaches a predetermined period, the drive current continues to flow but the current value of the drive current further decreases.
