Abstract
A card reader is provided, in which a gate sensor detects that a card has been inserted into an insertion slot, and being conveyed along a conveyance path; a conveyance part has a drive part that conveys the card in an inside of the conveyance path; a conveyance detection sensor detects the card conveyed along the conveyance path; when the conveyance detection sensor is turned from 'OFF' to “ON” and then to “OFF” in a state that the gate sensor is “ON”, a control part causes the drive part to rotate in a first direction for only a specific time and then rotate in a second direction for only a specific time, and determines the card being pulled out during insertion if a load when the drive part is rotated in the second direction is smaller than a load when the drive part is rotated in the first direction.
