Abstract
A device according to the present disclosure is a workpiece retaining devicethat retains a retained portionof an axial-directional end portion of a workpiecethat is cylindrical. The workpiece retaining deviceincludes a core memberthat is round and that comes into contact an inner perimeter face of the retained portionof the workpiece, a pressing memberthat presses an outer perimeter face of the retained portionof the workpieceto an inner side in a radial direction, and an aligning memberthat, upon a pressing force from the pressing memberacting thereupon, allows the core memberto move in the radial direction, in accordance with a magnitude and a direction of the pressing force.
