Abstract

A computer-readable storage medium that stores instructions for execution by one or more processors of a UE. The instructions to configure the UE for a UE-to-UE relay operation in a 5G NR system and to cause the UE to perform operations comprising encoding a registration request for transmission to an AMF of the 5G NR system. The registration request indicates a 5G ProSe capability of the UE as a UE-to-UE relay. A UE policy container received from the AMF is decoded. The UE policy container includes 5G ProSe UE-to-UE relay information. The 5G ProSe UE-to-UE relay information is provisioned by a Policy Control Function (PCF) of the 5G NR system in response to the registration request indicating the 5G ProSe capability. The UE is configured as a ProSe UE-to-UE relay in the 5G NR system based on the 5G ProSe UE-to-UE relay information.
