Abstract

Formaldehyde is obtained from COthrough hydrogenation of COto methanol while the subsequent oxidation of methanol yields formaldehyde. This formaldehyde combined with the electrochemically produced glycolaldehyde generates sugars, thus establishing a route from COto sugars.
