Abstract
An evaporator () is provided with a casing (), a refrigerant supply section (), a first heat transfer pipe group (), and a second heat transfer pipe group (). The first heat transfer pipe group () is disposed in the lower part of the space in the casing () so as to be immersed in the refrigerant and comprises a plurality of heat transfer pipes () through which liquid to be cooled flows. The second heat transfer pipe group () is provided in the space in the casing () at a position below the refrigerant supply section () and above the liquid level of the refrigerant, and comprises a plurality of second heat transfer pipes () through which liquid to be cooled flows.
