Abstract

A method for producing an anode for a lithium metal secondary battery includes coating a thin film comprised of NbC, TiC or TiCon a substrate; providing a lithium metal electrode; and laminating the thin film to a surface of the lithium metal electrode. Coating is accomplished by providing a dispersion of a powder comprising NbC, TiC or TiC; and coating the dispersion on the substrate by Langmuir-Blodgett scooping (LBS). The method may further include, prior to providing the dispersion, obtaining the powder by etching a MAX phase structure represented by Formula 1, Formula 2 or Formula 3 below:NbAC  (1);TiAC  (2); andTiAC  (3),
