Abstract
A method for adapting a seating position of an occupant of a vehicle in a collision of the vehiclewith a foreign object. The method includes a step of providing an adjustment signal, which causes a change in the seating position from an upright position to a lying position, to an interface to a seat device of the vehicle using a collision signal that indicates an imminent underride situation of the vehicle, and using a position signal that indicates a seating position of the occupant, and the provision takes place if the position signal indicates the upright position, and the provision does not take place if the position signalindicates the lying position.
