Abstract

A user equipment (UE) and method of improving video call quality during handover are generally described. After determining that handover has started (), the UE may suspend () frame transmission and store the frames. After determining that handover has completed (), the UE may discard () frames whose age exceeds a predetermined percent of a latency deviation computed from a real-time transport control protocol report. The UE may determine whether transmission of the remaining frames would exceed a delay proportional to a video frame interval multiplied by an uplink bandwidth for a cell to which the UE is connected or a maximum bitrate of a guaranteed bitrate bearer multiplied by a typical period for a non-access stratum bandwidth and discard frames in order of decreasing age until neither the bitrate nor the delay is exceeded by the transmission.
