The present invention relates to a method for isolating from the immunological gene repertoire a gene coding for a receptor having the ability to bind a preselected ligand. Receptors produced by the gene isolated by the method, particularly catalytic receptors, are also contemplated.

High potency antibodies, including immunologically active fragments thereof, having high kinetic association rate constants and optional high affinities are disclosed, along with methods for producing such antibodies. The high potency antibodies disclosed herein are of either the neutralizing or non-neutralizing type and have specificity for antigens displayed by microorganisms, especially viruses, as well as antigenic sites present on cancer cells and on various types of toxins, and the products of toxins. Processes for producing high potency neutralizing antibodies and increasing the potency of already existing neutralizing antibodies are also described. Methods of using said antibodies in the prevention and/or treatment of diseases, especially diseases induced or caused by viruses, are disclosed.

The present invention encompasses novel antibodies and fragments thereof which immunospecifically bind to one or more RSV antigens and compositions comprising said antibodies and antibody fragments. The present invention encompasses methods preventing respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection in a human, comprising administering to said human a prophylactically effective amount of one or more antibodies or fragments thereof that immunospecifically bind to one or more RSV antigens, wherein a certain serum titer of said antibodies or antibody fragments is achieved in said human subject. The present invention also encompasses methods for treating or ameliorating symptoms associated with a RSV infection in a human, comprising administering to said human a therapeutically effective amount of one or more antibodies or fragments thereof that immunospecifically bind to one or more RSV antigens, wherein a certain serum titer of said antibodies or antibody fragments is achieved in said human subject. The present invention further encompasses compositions comprising antibodies or fragments thereof that immunospecifically bind to a RSV antigen, and methods using said compositions for detection or diagnosis a RSV infection.

Methods of administering/dosing anti-RSV antibodies for prophylaxis and treatment

The invention provides a grafted antibody, or functional fragment thereof, comprising one or more complementarity determining regions (CDRs) having at least one amino acid substitution in one or more CDRs of a heavy chain CDR, where the grafted antibody or functional fragment thereof has specific binding activity for a cryptic collagen epitope. The invention also provides methods of using an antibody having specific binding activity for a cryptic collagen epitope, including methods of inhibiting angiogenesis, tumor growth, and metastasis.

Humanized collagen antibodies and related methods

Ultra high affinity antibodies with binding affinities in the range of 10M, and even 10Mare disclosed. Such antibodies include antibodies having novel high affinity complementarity determining regions (CDRs), especially those with framework and constant regions derived from either humans or mice. Methods of preparing and screening such antibodies, as well as methods of using them to prevent and/or treat disease, especially virus-induced diseases, are also disclosed.

The present invention relates to TNF-&#x3b1; binding molecules and nucleic acid sequences encoding TNF-&#x3b1; binding molecules. In particular, the present invention relates to TNF-&#x3b1; binding molecules with a high binding affinity, a high association rate, a low dissociation rate with regard to human TNF-&#x3b1; and that are capable of neutralizing TNF-&#x3b1; at low concentrations. Preferably, the TNF-&#x3b1; binding molecules of the present invention comprise light and/or heavy chain variable regions with fully human frameworks (e.g. human germline frameworks).

The invention provides a Vitaxin antibody and a LM609 grafted antibody exhibiting selective binding affinity to &#x3b1;&#x3b2;. The Vitaxin antibody consists of at least one Vitaxin heavy chain polypeptide and at least one Vitaxin light chain polypeptide or functional fragments thereof. Also provided are the Vitaxin heavy and light chain polypeptides and functional fragments. The LM609 grafted antibody consists of at least one CDR grafted heavy chain polypeptide and at least one CDR grafted light chain polypeptide or functional fragment thereof. Nucleic acids encoding Vitaxin and LM609 grafted heavy and light chains as well as nucleic acids encoding the parental non-human antibody LM609 are additionally provided. Functional fragments of such encoding nucleic acids are similarly provided. The invention also provides a method of inhibiting a function of &#x3b1;&#x3b2;. The method consists of contacting &#x3b1;&#x3b2;with Vitaxin or a LM609 grafted antibody or functional fragments thereof under conditions which allow binding to &#x3b1;&#x3b2;. Finally, the invention provides for a method of treating an &#x3b1;&#x3b2;-mediated disease. The method consists of administering an effective amount of Vitaxin or a LM609 grafted antibody or functional fragment thereof under conditions which allow binding to &#x3b1;&#x3b2;.

Methods of treating cancer with alphavbeta3-specific antibodies

The invention provides a Vitaxin antibody and a LM609 grafted antibody exhibiting selective binding affinity &#x3b1;&#x3b2;. The Vitaxin antibody consists of at least one Vitaxin heavy chain polypeptide and at least one Vitaxin light chain polypeptide or functional fragments thereof. Also provided are the Vitaxin heavy and light chain polypeptides and functional fragments. The LM609 grafted antibody consists of at least one CDR grafted heavy chain polypeptide and at least one CDR grafted light chain polypeptide or functional fragment thereof. The invention additionally provides a high affinity LM609 grafted antibody comprising one or more CDRs having at least one amino acid substitution, where the &#x3b1;&#x3b2;binding activity of the high affinity LM609 grafted antibody is enhanced. Nucleic acids encoding Vitaxin and LM609 grafted heavy and light chains as well as nucleic acids encoding the parental non-human antibody LM609 are additionally provided. Functional fragments of such encoding nucleic acids are similarly provided. The invention also provides a method of inhibiting a function of &#x3b1;&#x3b2;.
