A container includes an outer box, and a polygonal liner located within the outer box. The polygonal liner has a plurality of vertical walls. A continuous length of wire is located within the polygonal liner and forms a plurality of layers. Each of the layers is comprised of a series of wire loops arrayed polygonally along the vertical walls of the polygonal liner.

Method and apparatus for packaging wire in a storage container

A strap guide used in connection with a container having at least one opening for receiving a strap. The strap guide can include a boss defining a strap slot. The boss can have a periphery and two sides. A lip on the one of the two sides can extend outward relative to the boss, and a flange on the other of the two sides can also extend outward relative to the boss. At least a strap protector and a container for use with strap guide inserts can also be provided.

The present invention pertains to a hold down device for coiled wire stored in a wire storing container having a heading member that bounds a first coil face, a cover member bounding a second coil face, and a tensioning device extendable between the heading member and the cover member where the tensioning device is capable of applying compressive force between the heading member and the cover member. The heading member is fashioned having an integrally formed handle that eliminates the need to incorporate additional components for connecting to the tensioning device.

Receptacle for coiled wire

A densely packed storage drum containing wire, and a method and apparatus for producing the same. The storage drum having an interior storage cavity into which wire is fed. The drum is supported on a turn table adapted to rotate and index the storage drum relative to a rotatable laying head which guides the wire into the drum. A capstan turning at a set rotational velocity pulls the wire and delivers the wire into the rotating laying head. As the laying head feeds the wire into the storage drum the difference in the rotational velocities of the capstan and laying head causes the formation of loops of wire in the storage drum. By varying the relative velocities of the capstan and the laying head, and rotating and indexing the storage drum relative to the laying head the wire can be deposited into the drum in layers, with each layer having a plurality of loops of a specified diameter circumferentially and eccentrically positioned about the interior cavity of the drum. Adjacent layers having different loop diameters and circumferential positions, producing a densely packed storage drum filled with wire having a uniform radial density.

Method and apparatus for packing wire in a storage drum

A wire coil for packaging wire which wire coil includes a liner, wire coiled about the liner and at least one wire tie which secures the coil of wire to the liner. The liner is made of a strip of flexible material and the two ends of the strip are secured together by an end securing mechanism. Each side of the strip has a tie groove that is substantially aligned with each other along the central axis of the wire coil. Each of the tie grooves receives a portion of the wire tie to secure the wire tie in position on the liner. The ends of the strip can be positioned to partially overlap one another. The wire coil may also include at least one position indicator to define the position of the two ends when connected together, and/or at least one placement slot that is positioned between the two side edges and the two ends of the strip.

Wire electrode liner

A method and apparatus for densely packing wire in a storage drum is provided. A capstan is provided for pulling welding wire at a set rotational velocity. The welding wire is then provided to a rotatable laying head which receives the wire from the capstan, and in turn rotates with a storage drum placed on a rotatable turntable. As the welding wire is placed within the turntable in layers, the turntable is indexed relative to the storage drum axis and the rotational velocity of the capstan and laying head is altered, which causes the welding wire to be placed in a layer different from the first layer. This indexing is continued until the storage drum is full, forming alternating bands of welding wire to increase the packing density of the storage drum.

A drum with a cylindrical body having an upper end and a lower end and a circular bottom wall secured across said lower end includes a cylindrical core having an inner cylindrical surface, an upper end and a lower end which is fixedly secured to the bottom wall to define an annular wire receiving space between said core and said body of said drum wherein an improved wire biasing mechanism is provided for applying a downward force against wire in the wire receiving space, by a generally flat pressure ring resting on the wire and an elongated, elastic element connected to a loop element attached to the lower end of said core for pulling the pressure ring downwardly.

A retainer ring for a container of low twist welding wire which container includes a cylindrical outer wall, a lower partition and an upper opening through which the welding wire is drawn from a hollow, cylindrical spool of welding wire formed from a multitude of convolutions of wire in layers provided in the container wherein the retainer ring comprises a generally flat outer portion with an outer periphery fitting into the outer wall of the container, minimally contacting the wire surface, and comprising a number of projecting lobe portions whereby the outer periphery of the ring contains alternate areas first being closer to and then being farther from the outer walls of the container when the retainer ring is resting upon the hollow spool of welding wire in the container and an inner bell mouthed portion extending upwardly and defining an innermost wire extraction opening with a diameter substantially smaller than the spool of wire in the container.
