A method for determining the atmospheric pressure on the basis of the intake pressure measured downstream of an air filter in an intake line of an internal combustion engine, and of the air mass flow rate measured downstream of the air filter, and optionally of the intake air temperature. The calculation of the atmospheric pressure and the calculation of a degree of contamination of the air filter are separated by standardizing the measured air mass flow rates at two predefined values. Furthermore, during the calculation a characteristic curve for the degree of contamination of the air filter as a function of the determined pressure difference at the predefined air mass flow rates is used, and a characteristic diagram for the degree of contamination of the air filter as a function of the standardized air mass flow rate and of the determined pressure difference is used.

Method for determining the atmospheric pressure on the basis of the pressure in the intake line of an internal combustion engine

A method and apparatus regulates the pressure in the intake duct of an internal combustion engine. The internal combustion engine has a control unit, in which a desired pressure value is determined. The current pressure in the intake duct is adjusted to the desired value by a valve device, and the valve device is acted upon by an actuating signal from the control unit. In order to build up the pressure in the intake duct with a suitable dynamic response for each load state, particularly when using a number of valve devices, the actuating signal is used as a control signal, as a function of a relative desired pressure valve, from a control characteristic map stored in the control unit. A controller signal produced in a controller is superimposed on the control signal if required.

Apparatus for regulating the pressure in an internal combust ion engine intake ducts

A control system for the supercharging pressure of a supercharged internal combustion engine includes, for the purpose of using the dynamic properties of the turbocharger with adjustable turbine geometry of the internal combustion engine with respect to the supercharging pressure buildup, an open-loop control device in the operating path to the actuator; a turnoff regulating device for determining a regulation pulse duty factor which can be fed additively to the operating path; a changeover device arranged between the regulating device and the operating path; and a precontrol device for calculating a graduated precontrol pulse duty factor which can be fed to the operating path via an adder.

Control system for the supercharging pressure of a supercharging

An electronic bucking damping device is provided for internal-combustion engines with an electronic fuel injection in motor vehicles, particular for diesel engines. By way of an accelerator pedal, a quantity request signal is given and is fed by way of a PDT1-filter to a summation point connected with the control signal input of the fuel injection device. A rotational speed signal is filtered by way of a D2T2-filter and is subtracted in the summation point from the filtered quantity request signal. Via the filtered quantity request signal, load jumps and a related uncomfortable vehicle handling are avoided, and via the inverse coupling of the bucking vibration superimposed on the rotational speed signal, the bucking is damped or prevented. Using the two separate filters, the quantity damping and bucking damping functions are uncoupled, which simplifies the application.

Method and apparatus for regulating the pressure in a turbocharged

The invention provides a process for adjustment of the charging pressure in an internal-combustion engine exhaust gas turbocharger having an adjustable turbine geometry, to a predetermined operating-point-dependent desired charging pressure value. A fuzzy control function in an electronic control unit has as input quantities, a control difference and a control quantity, the latter being determined as the difference between an engine-operating-point-dependent maximum permissible differential pressure and a current differential pressure. The differential pressure is calculated as the difference from the exhaust back pressure and the charging pressure, so that unacceptable super elevation of the exhaust back pressure is recognized in the case of a positive load change, and is corrected by opening the blade position of the exhaust gas turbocharger with the variable turbine geometry, so that an optimum buildup of the torque takes place.
