Disclosed is a system including a social client and an intermediate server. A social client may be implemented as a mobile application or embedded as a component of a hosted application. The social client may include features/functions for a user to follow, tag, post, and/or comment on a case, a topic, user(s) concerning the case and/or topic, post(s) tagged to a topic, case(s) tagged by the user, or a combination thereof. The intermediate server may serve as an intermediate between backend system(s) and social client(s). For example, the intermediate server may receive a work order from a backend system, place the work order in an event stream and/or a work folder for the user, mark the work order as in-process when the user completes work, and return the work order to the backend system. The backend system may then mark the work order as having been completed.

Integrated social media server and architecture

A method and system for transferring telephone calls and data between computer programs in a call center. Flow connection modules associated with call center application programs allow data and telephone calls to be transferred from one computer program to another in the call center. The flow connection modules may be combined with a locator program such that the combination replaces the automatic call distributor ('ACD') in a call center. The flow connection modules enable development of modular call centers, allowing call center agent workstations to be easily increased or decreased. In operation, an application notifies its flow connection module that a call on a telephone in the workstation should be transferred to another application. The flow connection module establishes a data connection with a flow connection module associated with the other application. The flow connection module sends call-related data to the other flow connection module which then returns the telephone extension associated with the other application. The flow connection module requests a computer telephony interface ('CTI') link associated with a phone switch to transfer the call to the other application's telephone. The CTI link directs the phone switch to transfer the telephone call from the original application's workstation to the telephone of the other workstation. Having received notification of the transferred call, the other flow connection module informs the original flow connection module that the call has been successfully transferred, and the original flow connection module then disconnects the data connection.

The present integrated work management engine for customer care orchestrates all forms of work relating to the servicing of customer requests across the entire business enterprise. This integrated work management engine brings together all types of disparate communication system components, applications and information storage systems so the business which provides the customer care via these systems can respond to their customer requests in a unified, efficient and effective manner. The integrated work management engine also integrates the real time operation of the front office customer communications and the batch data processing mode of the back office. The integrated work management engine accepts work through multiple access channels, where each work request is automatically mapped to a process flow that specifies the task associated with the handling of the particular work item. The integrated work management engine uses resource selection algorithms to select the customer agent who is best equipped to handle the next step of the work request where customer data is accessed, and customer case files are updated through the fulfillment process. The selected customer agent views the customer information, process information, forms, and performance statistics on their desktop terminal device through an API set that is tightly coupled to the integrated work management engine.
