The present invention relates to a composition comprising an aqueous dispersion of multiphase polymer particles comprising first polymer particles having a Tof less than 30° C. and second polymer particles having a Tin the range of from 100° C. to 110° C., wherein the second polymer particles are phase separated from and occluded within the first polymer particles; wherein the number average molecular weight (M) of the multiphase polymer particles is in the range of from 9,000 to 25,000 g/mole; and wherein the second polymer particles comprise at least 95 weight percent methyl methacrylate. The composition of the present invention is useful in a formulation that can be used to prepare a water-resistant blister free LASD coating with little or no surface defects.

Aqueous dispersion of occluded polymer particles

A method is provided for generating single-stranded DNA circles from a biological sample. The method comprises the steps of: treating the biological sample with an extractant to release nucleic acids, thereby forming a sample mixture; neutralizing the extractant; denaturing the released nucleic acids to generate single-stranded nucleic acids; and contacting the single-stranded nucleic acids with a ligase that is capable of template-independent, intramolecular ligation of single-stranded DNA to generate the single-stranded DNA circles. All the steps of the method are performed without any intermediate nucleic acid isolation or nucleic acid purification. The single-stranded DNA circles may be amplified and further analyzed. Also provided is a kit which comprises compositions for carrying out the novel methods.

Method for nucleic acid analysis directly from an unpurified biological sample

Polyesters, such as those formed using polyols and di- or tri-carboxylic acids or anhydrides or salts thereof, are used as foam control agents in foodstuff processing. The polyesters are biodegradable and biocompatible while still providing excellent foam control capacity. In addition, polyesters foam control agents of the disclosure can be used with various apparatus while avoiding forming films that otherwise affect apparatus function. The polyesters can be used at various stages during industrial processing of vegetables (e.g., potatoes and beets) and fruits.

An acidic aqueous shampoo composition, which comprises: (I) a cleansing surfactant selected from the group consisting of anionic surfactant, zwitterionic or amphoteric surfactant and nonionic surfactant; (II) an emulsified silicone, (III) an anti-settling, thickening polymer, wherein the anti-settling, thickening polymer, comprises: (a) 40 to 74.5 wt % of structural units of Calkyl acrylate; (b) 20 to 50 wt % of structural units of methacrylic acid; (c) 0.3 to &#x3c;5 wt % of structural units of 2-acrylamido-2-methyl-propane sulfonic acid (AMPS); (d) 5 to 25 wt % of structural units of a specialized associated monomer having the following structure: wherein Ris a linear saturated Calkyl group; wherein Ris a hydrogen or a methyl group (preferably, wherein Ris a methyl group); and wherein n is an average of 20 to 28; with the proviso that the structural units of the specialized associated monomer (d) are derived from one of (i) a single specialized associated monomer (preferably, a single specialized associated monomer wherein Ris selected from the group consisting of a linear saturated Calkyl group, a linear saturated Calkyl group and a linear saturated Calkyl group; more preferably, a single specialized associated monomer wherein Ris selected from the group consisting of a linear saturated Calkyl group and a linear saturated Calkyl group); (ii) two specialized associated monomers, wherein Ris, respectively, a linear saturated Cand a linear saturated Calkyl group; or (iii) two specialized associated monomers, wherein Ris, respectively, a linear saturated Calkyl group and a linear saturated Calkyl group; (f) 0 to 2 wt % of structural units of multi-ethylenically unsaturated crosslinking monomer or chain transfer agent; and wherein the sum of the weight percentages of structural units (a)-(f) is equal to 100 wt % of the anti-settling, thickening polymer; and method of treating hair or scalp with such a composition. 

Shampoo composition and method of use

An aqueous anti-dandruff shampoo composition which comprises: (I) a cleansing surfactant selected from the group consisting of anionic surfactant, zwitterionic or amphoteric surfactant and nonionic surfactant; (II) suspended particles of an anti-dandruff agent, (III) an anti-settling, thickening polymer, wherein the anti-settling, thickening polymer, comprises: (a) 40 to 74.5 wt % of structural units of Calkyl acrylate; (b) 20 to 50 wt % of structural units of methacrylic acid; (c) 0.2 to &#x3c;5 wt % of structural units of 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropane sulfonic acid (AMPS); (d) 5 to 25 wt % of structural units of a specialized associated monomer having the following structure wherein Ris a linear saturated Calkyl group; wherein Ris a hydrogen or a methyl group (preferably, wherein Ris a methyl group); and wherein n is an average of 20 to 28; with the proviso that the structural units of the specialized associated monomer (d) are derived from one of (i) a single specialized associated monomer (preferably, a single specialized associated monomer wherein Ris selected from the group consisting of a linear saturated Calkyl group, a linear saturated Calkyl group and a linear saturated Calkyl group; more preferably, a single specialized associated monomer wherein R 1 is selected from the group consisting of a linear saturated C12 alkyl group and a linear saturated C18 alkyl group); (ii) two specialized associated monomers, wherein Ris, respectively, a linear saturated Cand a linear saturated Calkyl group; or (iii) two specialized associated monomers, wherein Ris, respectively, a linear saturated Calkyl group and a linear saturated Calkyl group; (e) 0 to 1 wt % of structural units of acrylic acid; and (f) 0 to 2 wt % of structural units of multi-ethylenically unsaturated crosslinking monomer or chain transfer agent; and wherein the sum of the weight percentages of structural units (a)-(f) is equal to 100 wt % of the anti-settling, thickening polymer; and the use of such a composition in a method of treating hair or scalp. 

Antidandruff composition and method of use

An automatic dishwashing composition is provided including a builder selected from the group consisting of carbonate, bicarbonate, citrate, silicate and mixtures thereof; a nonionic surfactant; and a dispersant polymer comprising: (a) 5 to 75 wt % of structural units of itaconic acid; (b) 10 to 85 wt % of structural units having formula I wherein each Ris independently selected from a hydrogen and a &#x2014;C(O)CHgroup; and (c) 10 to 65 wt % of structural units of (meth)acrylic acid; wherein the dispersant polymer has a lactone end group and wherein the dispersant polymer has a weight average molecular weight of 1,500 to 6,000.

Described herein is the identification of human monoclonal antibodies that bind GPC3 or heparan sulfate (HS) chains on GPC3 with high affinity. The antibodies described herein are capable of inhibiting HCC cell growth and migration. Provided are human monoclonal antibodies specific for GPC3 or HS chains on GPC3, including immunoglobulin molecules, such as IgG antibodies, as well as antibody fragments, such as single-domain VH antibodies or single chain variable fragments (scFv). Described herein is the use of rabbit hybridoma technology, along with a panel of truncated mesothelin domain fragments, to identify anti-mesothelin mAbs that bind specific regions of mesothelin. In one aspect of the present disclosure, the rabbit mAbs bind an epitope that is not part of Region I. In particular, the identified mAbs (YP187, YP223, YP218 and YP3) bind either Region II (391-486), Region III (487-581) or a native conformation of mesothelin with subnanomolar affinity. These antibodies do not compete for binding with the mesothelin-specific immunotoxin SS1P or mesothelin-specific antibody MORAb-009. In another aspect, disclosed is a high-affinity rabbit mAb that binds Region I of mesothelin (YP158). YP158 binds native mesothelin protein in cancer cells and tissues with high affinity and specificity.
