The present invention discloses an apparatus and a method for detecting the scanning range when applying the assistant frames in the flatbed scanners. Fixed marks allocated at the front side of the assistant frames are used to determine the sizes of the assistant frames. The required scanning ranges are thus determined according to the recognized assistant frames obtained from pre-scan. Only the front sides but whole of the assistant frames need to be pre-scanned, and thus to reduce the scanning time interval.

Apparatus and method of detecting a scanning range when applying assistant frames for flatbed scanners

An alignment pad is set in front of the image sensor. A lens is set between the alignment pad and the image sensor. The alignment pad includes a set of boundary alignment patterns. At least one sets of resolution analysis patterns are formed on the alignment pad. Each set of the resolution analysis pattern includes a horizontal analysis resolution pattern and a vertical resolution analysis pattern. The horizontal analysis resolution pattern is consisted of a plurality of vertical lines to analyze the horizontal resolution of the lens. The vertical resolution analysis pattern is consisted of a plurality of oblique lines to analyze the vertical resolution of the lens. The signals detected by the image sensor is fed to an application specific integrated circuits (ASIC) to generate a collation data. Subsequently, the collation data is fed into a buffer to store the data. A computer is responsive to these signal, and displays the collation data on the monitor in gray mode for collation.

Apparatus of alignment for scanner and a method of the same

An optical ruler is provided on the back surface side of the top housing and close to the transparent window along a scanning direction for providing a calibration reference. The optical ruler is formed with black and white blocks alternately arranged in an array. An image sensor which has a width larger than the width of the transparent window is provided for reading the image information of the optical ruler along with a scanned sheet while being progressively driven by a step motor. A determining element computes the actual moving steps of the step motor by calculating the number of black and white pixels from the scanned image of the optical ruler. When the actual moving steps of the step motor are fewer than a predetermined threshold value, or when the frequency of the occurrences of the scan line losses is higher than a predetermined threshold value, the image sensor is driven by the step motor to scan the sheet again. As a result, the step motor can be operated in response to a closed loop control signal depending on the actual moving steps of the step motor.

Apparatus and method for increasing the scan accuracy and quality of the flatbed scanner by using close loop control

An apparatus for automatic scanning a document is described. The automatic scanning apparatus including a scanning device which is used for scanning a document, the scanning device being positioned at a home position when the scanner is not in use. The other component is a driving device moving the scanning device from the home position responsive to a signal. Another component is a sensor device providing the signal for driving the driving device to move the scanning device from home position, the sensor device produces the signal according to the position of the cover. When the cover is positioned on the surface of the transparent plate, the sensor device generates the signal, and the driving device moves the scanning device responsive to the signal. The sensor device includes a sensor base and a sensor dog, the sensor base including a housing for providing space for accepting the sensor dog.
