Fuel injection pump for internal combustion engines

It is proposed that a drive tappet of a pump piston be provided with an integrated hydraulic supply onset adjusting device. This device includes an adjusting piston, which is guided in a work cylinder and is joined to the piston base of the pump piston, and a pressure chamber. The delivery of the control fluid pumped into the pressure chamber is effected via a delivery conduit discharging into the cylinder bore and a connecting conduit extending inside the pump piston and leading to the pressure chamber. By means of the control point located at the discharge point of the delivery conduit, relatively high control pressures can be fed into the system without relatively large leakage losses. The apparatus is usable in all piston-type supply pumps in which a control face on the pump piston, in cooperation with the control opening in the cylinder bore, determines the onset of supply.

A fuel injection pump for internal combustion engines, having a plurality of in-line pump elements in which the supply onset is effected by means of control slides, one of which is axially displaceable on each of the pump pistons and by controlling relief conduits of the pump work chambers. The control slides are actuated via a torque shaft in that via driver tangs which are secured to the torque shaft by fastening parts screwed to the torque shaft, the control slides are axially displaced upon rotation of the torque shaft. For adjusting the stroke or axial position of the individual control slides to one another, spacer means, in particular shims are provided between the fastening part and the torque shaft in the stroke direction of the control slides.

A fuel injection pump for internal combustion engines having control slides that are both axially displaceable and rotatable on the pump piston via a governor rod for controlling the injection quantity and the injection onset. A slit hub is releasably clamped on the governor rod with a driver arm, the hub being arranged to engage the control slide between two working faces and the hub has a driver recess for the rotational adjustment of the control slide. The driver recess is engaged by a tang joined with the control slide.

A fuel injection pump for internal combustion engines has a pump piston which via a pressure plate rests with a piston bottom on an axially driven tappet with slight play. This contact is brought about by a pressure spring, which is supported on a spring plate so as to grip the piston bottom from behind. To prevent the pressure plate from falling out if the pump piston should become stuck, the spring plate is cup-shaped and includes a cylindrical cup portion having two projecting protrusions. The pressure plate has a radial flange adapted to rest on the projecting protrusions. Those protrusions and the radial flange are adapted to one another such that the pressure plate can be introduced in a predetermined position through the protrusions. The piston bottom located between the pressure plate and the plate bottom of the spring plate prevents the pressure plate from being able to assume a position, after assembly, in which it could slip and escape back outwardly through those protrusions.

A fuel injection pump for internal combustion engines is proposed, in which for normal engine operation the control of the injection quantity and of the beginning and end of supply for injection is effected by means of a control slide which is axially displaceable on the pump piston and in which a radial bore (connecting conduit) controlled by the pump piston is present in the pump cylinder, with which radial bore the pump work chamber can be made to communicate with the suction chamber of the pump. The latest end of supply for the injection is determined in that after a predetermined stroke of the pump piston a relief conduit is arranged to coincide with the radial bore and thereby relieve the pump work chamber. Because the radial bore is only blocked after a pre-stroke has been executed by the pump piston the earliest supply onset also can be controlled with this bore as well.

A fuel injection pump for internal combustion engines having in-line pumping elements, having pump pistons on which control slides are axially displaceable, in particular for adjusting the injection onset; in a relatively greatly displaced position, these control slides being arranged to interrupt the injection. The control slides are moved by first and second governor rods, each part of which carries one group of driver members of the control slides, and both governor rods are rotatable relative to one another. As a result, it is possible for normal operation to be controlled by the one governor rod, while at the same time an appropriate number of engine cylinders is shut off by the other governor rod, in that the associated control slides are displaced into respective corresponding positions.

A fuel injection pump for internal combustion engines, in which at least during normal engine operation the injection quantity is effected by controlling a fuel quantity control conduit which is provided in the pump piston in communication with the pump work chamber, via a control slide that is displaceable on the pump piston in cooperation with fuel quantity control openings, the axial position of the control slide determining the onset and end of supply. The earliest possible supply onset is further determined by a supply onset control opening disposed in the pump piston, which opening is sealed by entering into the cylinder liner after a pre-determined stroke extent has been traversed. Subsequent to this entry, an injection pressure can build up in the pump work chamber.

A pressure valve is proposed herein which is built into the injection pump, its valve closing body being guided in a valve carrier, and arranged to open in the supply direction of the fuel, counter to the force of a restoring spring. A check valve is built into the pressure valve, its valve seat carrier being secured to the valve closing body and its movable valve closing member is arranged to open counter to the supply direction of the fuel via a spring supported on the base of the valve closing body. For axially securing the valve seat carrier on the valve closing body, the restoring spring simultaneously engages the valve seat carrier. As a result, the satisfactory functioning of the check valve is assured.

A fuel injection pump for internal combustion engines having a plurality of in-line pumping elements, in which there is one pumping element in the injection pump for each individual combustion chamber of the engine. Each pumping element is surrounded by one partial suction chamber, and quantity dividers inserted into inflow and outflow conduits divide the flow of fuel into partial fuel flows so that each partial suction chamber is flushed, whereby no outflowing fuel is capable of mixing with inflowing fuel.
