A description is given of a tubular food casing having a fiber layer on the inside and having two or more polymer layers. The polymer layers include a first continuous polymer layer (A), with which the inner fiber layer or nonwoven-web layer is coated on the side of the tubular casing facing away from the inside, and completely covers the layer, and at least one polymer layer (B), and a monoaxially or biaxially oriented film based on polyamide and/or copolyamide. At least two of the polymer layers are joined to one another directly by a layer of adhesive. The inner fiber layer may absorb colour, smoke, aroma and/or flavour substance(s), such as liquid smoke or caramel, store these substances and transfer them to a food located within the casino. The casing is suitable as artificial sausage casing, especially for cooked-filling and scalded-emulsion sausage.

Tubular food casing with transfer function

A tubular, seamless, water vapour permeable, smokable, biaxially draw-oriented and partially or completely heat-set food casing is provided having at least two layers based on thermoplastic polymers. At least one layer A, which does not form the inside layer, comprises a blend of aliphatic (co)polyamide and at least one hydrophilic polymer, while the inside layer I comprises a blend of aliphatic or isocyclic (co)polyamide and a block copolymer selected from polyether-amide, polyether-ester and polyether-urethane. The casing is produced by a tubular-film blowing process or a process with biaxial tubular-film draw-orientation. The casing is envisaged more particularly as synthetic sausage casing, especially for smoked raw sausage, such as salami.

Smoke- and water vapour-permeable food casing with optimized bonding properties

The invention relates to uncooked dry or semi-dry sausage products in tubular casings that are based on an optionally-coated textile material. The tubular casing has a longitudinal seam with a sealing strip. On the sealing strip is located a discontinuous layer of a sealing polymer. The sealing strip is bonded to the casing essentially at sealing points defined by the discontinuous layer. The invention further relates to a process for producing the uncooked dry or semi-dry sausage product.

Uncooked dry or semi-dry sausage product having a casing made of a textile sheet

A flexible tubular food casing having a flat support material is provided which, on at least one side, has a continuous coating based on a hotmelt polymer, with the coating preferably situated on the outside. The continuous coating has a weight per unit area of 3 to 200 g/m, preferably 15 to 50 g/m. The hotmelt polymers have an MVR value in the range of about 25 to 500 cmper 10 min, measured at 190&#xb0; C. with a load of 2.16 kg. The flexible tubular food casing is suitable as a synthetic sausage casing for raw sausage, scalded-emulsion sausage or cooked-meat sausage.

The invention relates to a biaxially drawn multilayer tubular film consisting of at least five layers, in which the external and two other layers contain aliphatic (co)-polyamide in a quantity equal to or greater than 50% by weight and are differently assembled. The inventive tubular film is produced by coextrusion and, thereby is seamless. Said tubular film can be used in the form of food product packagings, in particular as synthetic sausage casing.

The invention relates to a single- or multi-layered food casing, made from a thermoplastic mixture which comprises at least one aliphatic polyamide and/or copolyamide, at least one or more synthetic water-soluble polymers and at least one organic and/or inorganic filler. The skin has a water vapor permeability, as determined according to DIN 53122, in the non-oriented, monoaxially or biaxially oriented state of 50 to 1500 g/m&#xb7;d. The food casing is particularly suitable for use as an artificial sausage casing, particularly for raw sausages.

Smoke-and steam-permeable food skin made from a thermoplastic mixture with a natural appearance

The invention relates to a smoke-permeable, moisture-resistant, tubular, biaxially oriented, preferably also heat set food casing containing a mixture of at least one aliphatic (co)polyamide and at least one water-soluble synthetic polymer, and having a water vapor transmission rate of between 40 and 200 g/m&#xb7;d. The water-soluble polymer is preferably a polyvinyl alcohol. Optionally, the mixture also contains additives which influence the optics, haptics, moisture storage capacity and peeling behavior. The casing is preferably tubular and seamless and is produced by extrusion of a corresponding thermoplastic mixture. The inventive casing is preferably used as an artifical sausage casing, especially for smokeable scalded-emulsion sausages.

Smoke permeable food casing based on polyamide and water soluble polymers

Disclosed is a shined tubular food casing based on a thermoplastic blend of at least one polyamide and/or copolyamide and at least one hydrophilic component. The casing is biaxially stretch-oriented and impregnated on the inside and/or outside with a component which allows the pleats which are formed during shining of the casing to adhere to each other. The component preferably comprises at least one polymer. The casing is preferably shirred at a ratio of 80:1 to 500:1. The inventive shined casing is particularly stable from a mechanical perspective and can therefore be used especially for the production of cooked sausages, scalded-emulsion sausages, and small sausages on fully automatic sausage stuffing and clipping apparatuses.

The invention concerns a biaxially stretched and thermoset tubular seamless single- or multi-layered foodstuff skin wherein the layer, or, a multi-layered skin wherein at least one of the layers, contains a block copolymer with 'hard' aliphatic polyamide blocks and 'soft' aliphatic polyether blocks, the block copolymer corresponding to one of formulae (I) to (III), E&#x2014;(NH&#x2014;[CH]&#x2014;CO)&#x2014;X&#x2014;(A&#x2014;O)&#x2014;A X&#x2014;(CO&#x2014;[CH]&#x2014;NH)&#x2014;E(I), (II), &#x2014;[X&#x2014;(CO&#x2014;[CH]&#x2014;NH)&#x2014;Y&#x2014;X&#x2014;(A&#x2014;O)&#x2014;A]-(III). The invention is particularly suitable as a skin for a sausage which is to be boiled or heated in water, and does not form folds when the filling is introduced manually, with no or only slight pressure.

The invention relates to edible molded bodies in the form of a flat or tubular film based on plastifiable biopolymers, the cleavage products or derivatives thereof and/or synthetic polymers from natural monomers, characterized in that they are produced according to a method comprising the following steps: a) the biopolymers, cleavage products or derivatives thereof and/or synthetic polymers are mixed with at least one edible plasticizer, at least one lubricating agent and at least one cross-linking agent, b) the mixture thus obtained is melted into a thermoplastic material, c) said material is extruded and d) the product obtained by extrusion is calendered and/or stretched or blown and deformed into the edible molded body. The molded bodies cited in the invention are suitable for use as food wrappers for sausages and boiled ham, and are particularly suitable for use as seamless sausage casings.

A polymer blend disclosed has a coherent phase made from an aliphatic and/or semiaromatic (co)polyamide and, dispersed therein, a phase made from an olefin block copolymer grafted with intramolecular carboxylic anhydrides. The olefin block copolymer preferably comprises PP blocks and EPM blocks, and, where appropriate, also EBM blocks. A flat or tubular film is also disclosed wherein at least one layer thereof comprises the polymer blend. The film has preferably been mono- or biaxially oriented, and, where appropriate, also heat-set. A tubular film of the present invention is particularly suitable as a synthetic casing for sausages.

Polyamide-containing polymer compositions and films produced therewith
