A stator vane angle system includes an engine case, a plurality of stator vanes located at an interior of the engine case. Each stator vane is rotatable about a stator vane axis. A synchronization ring is located at an exterior of the engine case. The synchronization ring is operably connected to each stator vane of the plurality of stator vanes such that movement of the synchronization ring urges rotation of each stator vane of the plurality of stator vanes about their respective stator vane axes. A plurality of impingement openings extend through the engine case from the interior of the engine case to the exterior of the engine case. The plurality of impingement openings are configured to direct flowpath gases from the interior of the engine case to impinge on the synchronization ring, thereby reducing a thermal mismatch between the engine case and the synchronization ring.

Vane angle system accuracy improvement

Systems and methods for de-icing a fan of a gas turbine engine are disclosed. The systems and methods may include an electrical coil an electrical coil operatively associated with a non-rotating forward assembly of the gas turbine engine; a magnet operatively associated with a rotating surface of the fan, the magnet and the electrical coil producing electricity when the fan is in motion; and a heating element operatively associated with a surface on the fan, the heating element being powered by the electricity produced by the magnet and the electrical coil.

De-icing by integral electric heat generation

A de-icing system for a gas turbine engine according to an exemplary aspect of the present disclosure includes, among other things, a forward assembly and a rear assembly adjacent to the forward assembly. One of the forward assembly and the rear assembly is rotatable relative to the other to generate an amount of air friction between said forward and rear assemblies. A method of de-icing a gas turbine engine is also disclosed.

Gas turbine engine de-icing system

Systems and methods for de-icing a fan of a gas turbine engine are disclosed. The systems and methods may include an electrical coil operatively associated with a first rotating surface of the fan; a magnet operatively associated with a second rotating surface of the fan, the second rotating surface rotating in a direction counter to the first rotating surface, the magnet and the electrical coil thereby producing electricity when the fan is in motion; and a heating element operatively associated with a surface on the fan, the heating element being powered by the electricity produced by the magnet and the electrical coil.
