A vehicle speed control system for a vehicle comprises a lateral acceleration sensor, a vehicle speed sensor, a target vehicle speed setting device, a drive system of the vehicle, and a controller connected. The controller is arranged to calculate a correction quantity on the basis of the lateral acceleration and the vehicle speed, to calculate a command vehicle speed on the basis of the vehicle speed, the target vehicle speed, a variation of the command vehicle speed and the correction quantity, and to control the drive system to bring the vehicle speed closer to the command vehicles speed.

Vehicle speed control system

In a vehicle driving force control apparatus for controlling a driving force of the vehicle to achieve a target acceleration or a target vehicle speed, a running resistance estimating section calculates an estimated running resistance. A target acceleration modifying section modifies the target acceleration with the estimated running resistance and thereby decreases the target acceleration with increase in the estimated running resistance.

A vehicle driving force control apparatus for a vehicle includes an actuating section to control a driving force of the vehicle so as to cause an actual vehicle speed of the vehicle to follow a target vehicle speed. A vehicle speed control system for a vehicle with an engine and an automatic transmission is comprised of a coast switch for decreasing a set vehicle speed and a controller connected with the coast switch. A vehicle speed control system is adapted to a vehicle equipped with an automatic transmission with a torque converter. The vehicle speed control system detects whether the automatic transmission is put in a lock-up condition, and corrects a command drive torque according to the lock-up condition of the automatic transmission. Particularly, the vehicle speed control system decreases a correction quantity of the command drive torque when the automatic transmission is put in the un-lockup condition. Therefore, the vehicle speed control system can adapt its response characteristic to a controlled system response characteristic which varies according to the lock-up condition of the transmission.

A vehicle speed control system is installed to a vehicle equipped with an engine and a continuously variable transmission (CVT). The vehicle control system is comprised of a controller arranged to execute a vehicle speed control, to suspend the vehicle speed control when a throttle opening is increased to be greater than a target throttle opening for the vehicle speed control and to restart the suspended vehicle speed control when the throttle opening becomes smaller than the target throttle opening. Therefore, this vehicle speed control system can quickly and smoothly decelerate the vehicle without generating shift shocks when the vehicle speed control is restarted.

In apparatus and method for controlling a driving force for an automotive vehicle having an internal combustion engine, a slip condition of a driven road wheel is detected, an opening angle of an engine throttle valve so as to control the slip condition of the driven road wheel to a predetermined condition is adjusted, a target opening angle of the throttle valve according to the detected slip condition is derived, the opening angle of the throttle valve is determined, a steady state deviation of an output of the engine developed between the target opening angle of the throttle valve and the actually detected opening angle thereof is derived, and the derived steady state deviation is compensated using another driving force reducing control unit such as an engine control unit used for, for example, cutting off a fuel supply to a determined number of engine cylinders.

Apparatus and method for controlling driving force derived from internal

In a drive force reduction controller for reducing engine output when drive wheels slip, a first shift timing is applied to an automatic transmission during ordinary running, and a second shift timing is applied when engine output is reduced. The second shift timing is set so as to provide a shift-up at a vehicle speed higher than the first shift timing when the throttle opening is less than a predetermined opening such that the engine rotation speed after shift-up is equal to or greater than a predetermined rotation speed. It is also set to provide the shift-up at a vehicle speed lower than the first shift timing when the throttle opening is greater than a second predetermined opening greater than the first predetermined opening. In this way, stable drive force reduction control is performed regardless of the throttle opening, shift-up in the high vehicle speed region is prevented, and shocks due to shift-up of the transmission in the high vehicle speed region are mitigated.
