A mold form fryer utilizing a top conveyor that transports snack pieces through a constant velocity oil stream without the need of a bottom mating mold or conveyor. Herein, the form fryer having a fryer housing for controlling the frying atmosphere is provided with a top conveyor disposed above a fryer oil pan positioned longitudinally through the fryer. Uncooked snack pieces are provided to the fryer oil pan by a bottom entrance conveyor. A steam shield separates a front-end vestibule from the downstream portion of the fryer housing, and inert gas manifolds introduce inert gas into the front-end vestibule, thereby providing a sufficiently low oxygen and sufficiently low condensable gas or steam environment near the product submerging point.

A method for extracting feature information from product images using multivariate image analysis (MIA) to develop predictive models for organoleptic and other feature content and distribution on the imaged product. The imaging system is used to monitor product quality variables in an on-line manufacturing environment. The method may also be integrated into a closed-loop feedback control system in automated systems.

An automated game ball inspection apparatus and system for determining quality of surface treatments applied to the surface of game balls. The inspection system includes an imaging system including a detector for creating and providing an image signal of the ball being inspected to an analyzer. The inspection system also includes an environmental modification device to account for contours on the spherical surface of the ball such that the imaging system can create and analyze still images of the ball. A sorter or reject device, may be provided to act upon the ball based on an output signal from the analyzer.

Apparatus and method for automated game ball inspection

A method for finishing a golf ball comprising the steps of providing a golf ball having a three-dimensional dimpled surface; preparing the surface for receiving at least one indicia; providing a digital image having at least one color; transferring the image to the surface with an inkjet head; and treating the surface with a coating comprising a clear coat, a top coat, a primer, or a mixture thereof.

A method for finishing a golf ball comprising the steps of providing a golf ball having a three-dimensional dimpled surface; preparing the surface for receiving at least one indicia; providing a digital image having at least one color; providing a multi-layered pad-printing substrate having at least one layer; etching the image into the at least one layer of the substrate with a laser; distributing a layer of ink over the etched substrate; providing at least one pad for transferring the ink from the substrate to the three-dimensional surface; and transferring the image from the substrate to the dimpled surface of the golf ball.
