A gear type transmission comprising a casing, an input shaft supported by the casing, an output shaft supported by the casing and disposed coaxial to the input shaft, a counter shaft supported by the casing and disposed parallel to and axially offset from the input and output shafts, plural pairs of shift gears mounted on the input and counter shafts for engagement with each other, a pair of output gears on the output and counter shafts for engagement with each other, one gear of at least a low shift side of the plural pairs of shift gears fixed to the input shaft so as to rotate always simultaneously with the input shaft, the other gear of the low shift side of the plural pairs of shift gears attached to the counter shaft so as to rotate freely to the counter shaft, and a synchronized equipment mounted on the counter shaft and operating so as to make it rotate the other gear of the low shift side simultaneously with the counter shaft.

Gear type transmission

A throttle actuator in an automatic shift mechanism of a geared transmission for shifting to overdrive automatically includes first and second displacement members capable of being displaced relative to each other, the first displacement member being connected to the accelerator pedal and the second displacement member being connected to the engine throttle, a spring interposed between the first and second displacement members for displacing them in unison, actuating means attached to the second displacement member for displacing it relative to the first displacement member for displacing it relative to the first displacement member to open or close the engine throttle, and a CPU for controlling operation of the first actuating means. When a shift is made to overdrive, the CPU causes the actuating means to displace the second displacement member relative to the first displacement member, thereby opening or closing the engine throttle independently of operation of the accelerator pedal to control the rotational speed of the engine, whereby it is possible to engage or disengage the synchros in the transmission and to shift to overdrive automatically while the accelerator pedal remains depressed.

Throttle actuator in automatic shift mechanism of geared transmissions

A shift actuator in an automatic shift mechanism of a geared transmission for an automotive vehicle includes a shift rod mounted in a casing so as to slide freely in mutually opposing directions and coupled to a fork shaft to acutate the same by sliding in either of the directions, thereby effecting a gear shift, actuating means attached to the shift rod for urging the shift rod in either of the directions by hydraulic pressure switched by a changeover valve, and a CPU for switching the changeover valve. Hydraulic pressure is switchingly applied to the actuating means by the changeover valve in response to a command from the CPU, thereby urging the shift member coupled to the fork shaft in the shift direction intended. As a result, when synchronization with the rotational speed of the engine is achieved, the fork shaft automatically slips into in a desired shift postion.

Shift acutator in automatic shift mechanism of geared transmissions

A power distributing device for four-wheel-drive vehicle including an input shaft, a first output shaft for transmitting power to rear wheels, a second output shaft for transmitting power to front wheels, a plane planetary gear set, a power train changing means and a synchronizing means. The plane planetary gear set includes a sun gear having a hollow shaft, a ring gear connected with the first output shaft, a planet carrier drivably connected with the input shaft, and planet gears carried by the planet carrier and engaged with the sun gear and the ring gear. The power train changing means includes a sliding sleeve and a sliding tube slidably mounted on the hollow shaft, engaged movably with the hollow shaft only in its axial direction, the sliding sleeve being selectively movable to engage either with a stationary portion of the device in a rear-wheel-drive condition or with the sun gear in a direct four-wheel-drive condition and a power distributing four-wheel-drive condition, the sliding tube being selectively movable to engage with the planet carrier in the direct four-wheel-drive condition. The synchronizing means is provided to inhibit nonsynchronous engagement of the sun gear with the stationary portion or the second output shaft.

A power distributing apparatus for vehicles includes an input shaft, first and second output shafts, a simple planetary gear set having a carrier operatively connected to the input shaft, a ring gear cooperating with the first output shaft, and a sun gear selectively engaged with the second output shaft, and means for selectively engaging the carrier and the sun gear and for integrally rotating the sun gear and the carrier in the engaging state of the sun gear and the carrier, and for more slowly rotating the sun gear than the carrier in the disengaging state of the sun gear and the carrier.
