Exemplary embodiments provide methods and systems for assembling electronic devices, such as integrated circuit (IC) chips, by selectively and scalably embedding or seating IC elements onto/into a receiving substrate, such as a chip substrate. Preparing of the chip substrate can be performed by depositing or patterning an activatable thermal barrier material on a surface of the substrate. The IC chips are secured on the prepared substrate by activating the thermal barrier material between the chip substrate and IC chips. Securing can include softening of the chip substrate with the activated thermal barrier material to an amount suitable for embedding the IC chips. Securing can also include adhesively bonding the IC chips to the substrate with the activated thermal barrier material in the case of a non-pliable substrate.

Exemplary embodiments provide methods and systems for assembling electronic devices, such as integrated circuit (IC) chips, using a release member having a phase change material. Specifically, IC elements/components can be selectively received, stored, inspected, repaired, and/or released in a scalable manner during the assembly of IC chips by inducing phase change of the phase change material. The release member can be glass with the IC elements grown on the glass. In some embodiments, the release member can be used for a low cost placement of the IC elements in combination with an intermediate transfer layer.

Exemplary embodiments provide methods and systems for assembling electronic devices, such as integrated circuit (IC) chips, using a release member having a phase change material. Specifically, IC elements/components can be selectively received, stored, inspected, repaired, and/or released in a scalable manner during the assembly of IC chips by inducing phase change of the phase change material. The release member can be flexible or rigid. In some embodiments, the release member can be used for a low cost placement of the IC elements in combination with an SOI (silicon on insulator) wafer and/or an intermediate transfer member. In other embodiments, the release member can be used for a low cost placement of the IC elements in combination with a release wafer.

Exemplary embodiments provide methods and systems for assembling electronic devices, such as integrated circuit (IC) chips, by selectively and seating IC elements onto/into a receiving substrate, such as a chip substrate. Specifically, the assembly of IC chips can include embedding IC elements onto the receiving substrate upon softening the receiving substrate. Such softening can be performed by using a softening agent and/or an activatable thermal barrier material. In an exemplary embodiment, pockets can be formed in the receiving substrate using the activatable thermal barrier material for the IC assembly.

An apparatus () for obtaining a scanned image of an eye has a reference locator for pupil alignment apparatus along an optical axis. A pupil profiling apparatus for obtaining an outline of the pupil has a pupil profiling light source (), a sensor () for detecting reflected light, and a control logic processor () for computing an outline of the pupil according to detected light. An illumination apparatus () for directing visible illumination into the eye has a spatial light modulator () for shaping an illumination beam according to the detected outline, a scanning element (), and a camera () for obtaining the scanned image by sensing a portion of the reflected illumination.

Sidewalls of the registration recesses and the light source registration recesses have the same slope angle. A light emitting element is located in at least one of the light source registration recesses. The molded lenslet array is located at a predetermined distance from the bottom of the registration recesses (). A multi-axis scanning module () for direct light to and collecting light from a photo-stimulatable radiographic media () comprises a housing () having a ellipsoid chamber () moveable on a first axis () relative to a radiographic media. A laser () is disposed in a channel () to generate a laser beam () of stimulating electromagnetic radiation through the channel and out of a first opening () in the housing to stimulate an area of the radiographic media. A filter () for passing only emitted light () from the area, wherein the filter is disposed between the ellipsoid chamber and a second opening (). A light detector () disposes adjacent the filter in the second opening. The multi-axis scanning module is adapted to move transitionally on the first axis while the laser is dithered on a second axis relative to the first axis to enable swath scanning of the radiographic media and production of an electronic signal.

High speed counterbalanced translation device for use with radiographic media

A scanning apparatus () for scanning radiographic media () comprises a housing () with a scanning stage () mounted within the housing. A scanning head is mounted on the scanning stage and the scanning stage is adapted for translational movement along an axis (). An opening () in the housing receives a cassette () and radiographic media has a latent image () disposed in the cassette. The radiographic media has a ferromagnetic end () and the cassette consists of a closed box shape having an upper door () and a lower door (). A first magnet () is secured to the upper door and a second magnet () is secured to the lower door. The polarity of the first magnet is in the same orientation as the polarity of the second magnet. A magnetic latch () is mounted within the scanning apparatus to hold the radiographic media at the ferromagnetic end, and the magnetic latch is mounted so that the polarity of the magnetic latch repels the polarity of the first and second magnets. An analog to digital converter () communicates with a scanning head (); a control processing unit () communicates with the analog to digital converter; and an output device () communicates with the control processing unit.
