An electromagnetic fuel injection valve comprises a valve body, a valve seat which cooperates with the valve body, a fuel injection port disposed downstream of the valve seat, and a dividing device which serves to divide injection fuel injected from the fuel injection port. The dividing device is formed integrally with a member in which the fuel injection port is formed and includes parallel walls substantially parallel to each other with the fuel injection port interposed therebetween and arcuate walls connected to the parallel walls having a diameter larger than that of the fuel injection port. The walls extend from said member in a direction of an axis of the valve. The dividing device has an outer diameter substantially equal to the largest diameter of the valve seat.

A safety control safeguard system includes sensors disposed in a quadruple array. First, second, third and fourth signal processing channels provided in parallel each include signal processing means for receiving output signals from the associated sensors for producing a trip signal. First and second actuating means operable independent of each other are provided for actuating an apparatus to be controlled. A first switch means operatively connected to the first, second, third and fourth processing channels for activating the first actuating means in response to reception of the trip signal produced by the signal processing channels and second switch means operatively connected to the first, second, third and fourth processing channels for activating the second actuating means in response to reception of the trip signal produced by the signal processing channels. The first and second switching means are operable independent of each other and constitute a 2-out-of-4 logic circuit in cooperation with the first and second actuating means.

Control system

An exhaust gas turbine type supercharger in which a casing of a turbine is divided into two chambers along a flow direction of the exhaust gas to form an open scroll and a closed scroll. The open scroll feeds the turbine with the exhaust gas over a full operational range of the engine. The closed scroll is opened to increase a flow rate of the exhaust gas to the turbine when the supercharged pressure is high as in a high load/high speed operation of the engine. A port is formed through a partitioning wall between the open scroll and a downstream exhaust gas passage of the turbine and an opening/closing valve is interposed thereat to thereby bypass the exhaust gas to a downstream portion of the turbine with the port being opened, when the supercharged pressure becomes high.

Exhaust gas turbine type supercharger

A solid-state imaging device comprises a number of photodiodes arrayed in horizontal rows and vertical columns, a first output circuit for sequentially reading out signal charges from those photodiodes which are arrayed on odd-numbered horizontal rows, a second output circuit for sequentially reading out signal charges from the photodiodes arrayed on the even-numbered horizontal rows, a synchronizing pulse generator for synchronizing operation of the first and second output circuits, a first subtracting circuit for determining the difference between the output signals of the first and second output circuits in odd-numbered field, and a second subtracting circuit for determining the difference between the output signals of the first and second output circuits in even-numbered field. The outputs of the first and second subtracting circuit are alternately extracted in synchronism with the synchronizing pulse produced by the synchronizing pulse generator. The solid-state imaging device is made immune to the smear phenomenon. The invention can be advantageously applied to the solid-state imaging device of CCD type as well as MOS type.

Solid-state imaging device including noise subtraction with polarity

A system for controlling an exhaust gas-driven supercharger used in an internal combustion engine for an automotive vehicle includes an exhaust gas bypass passage connecting between selected portions of the exhaust gas conduit upstream and downstream of a turbine of the supercharger, and an exhaust bypass valve disposed midway of the exhaust gas bypass passage for controlling the quantity of engine exhaust gases. In the supercharger control system, an actuator responsive to a digital control signal is employed for actuating the exhaust bypass valve. A microcomputer calculates the opening of the exhaust bypass valve so that the supercharged air pressure may not exceed the critical point giving rise to knocking, and such a digital control output signal is applied to energize the actuator so that the supercharged air pressure can be controlled with highest efficiency over a wide operation range of the engine.

Control system for exhaust gas-driven supercharger used in vehicle engine

A turbocharger control system has a waste gate operative to cause engine exhaust gases to bypass the turbocharger to protect the engine when the supercharging pressure exceeds a predetermined pressure level. A pressure modulator is provided to mix pressures derived from points upstream and downstream of a compressor to produce a controlling pressure which is modulated to be of a pressure level between the compressor-upstream and downstream pressures and which is also adjusted as a function of the atmospheric pressure. A waste gate actuator compares the supercharging pressure and the controlling pressure to control the operation of the waste gate. When a motor vehicle equipped with the system is operated at high altitude where the atmospheric pressure is lower than that obtained at a low altitude, the controlling pressure is adjusted to be substantially the same as the controlling pressure obtained at the low altitude, whereby the waste gate is opened only at a predetermined pressure level of the supercharging pressure to assure a good engine operability.

Altitude responsive turbocharger control system

A supercharger control system for the internal combustion engine comprising a supercharger for applying a supercharge pressure to the engine by driving a compressor with a turbine rotated by the energy of the exhaust gas, and an exhaust gas bypass valve for regulating the amount of the exhaust gas supplied to the turbine. A factor related to the engine combustion state such as a knocking condition is detected, and a signal representing the condition is generated. At least one output pressure produced from the compressor is modified in accordance with the above-mentioned signal. The pressure thus modified is used for adjusting the opening of the exhaust gas bypass valve thereby to control the supercharge pressure.

Turbocharger control system for internal combustion engine

An electronic fuel feed system wherein pulses generated in synchronism with the revolutions of an engine are multiplied by N, the suction air of the engine is measured by a swirl-type air flow meter, the pulses increased N times as fall within a pulse of the air flow meter are counted, and the quantity of fuel supply is calculated from the inverse number of the count value.
