Techniques for storing and using compressed restrict values for selected scan chains and flip-flops, such that the states that need to be applied to those flip flops need not be solved by a linear equation system solver, such as a linear equation system solver provided by an automatic test pattern generation (ATPG) tool. Selected restrict values can then be injected into test patterns for those flip-flop combinations that need to be set in a certain shift cycle or those flip-flops that need to be initialized one after another (e.g., for serial settings in one scan chain).

Deterministic logic built-in self-test stimuli generation

Techniques are provided for X-masking using at least some masking information provided by on-chip logic, in lieu of masking information provided from off of the integrated circuit being tested. The masking information is provided by a masking information source on the integrated circuit being tested, such as, for example, a read-only memory (ROM) circuit, that feeds the masking information to the X-masking logic. With these implementations of the invention, it is possible to perform X-masking independent from any external data, thus enabling X-masking for a logic built-in self-test without requiring an external testing device.

In a method of binarizing images containing linear structures, and particularly images of prints from the skin, areas are determined that are each distinguished by a preset approximate direction of the structures. The areas of the image that are determined are each filtered with a Gabor filter adapted to the given direction. The method according to the invention can advantageously be implemented into a system for analyzing and binarizing images containing linear structures, and particularly images of prints from the skin. Such systems can advantageously be used for identifying human individuals and are especially intended for access control and the like.

In a method for determining the bearing surface in images of skin prints, the skin having ridges and furrows and the images existing in the form of image data, the image is filtered with a plurality of Gabor filters whose cosine functions are oriented in different directions in the spatial domain. From the filter responses, surfaces are determined that are each distinguished by an approximate direction of the ridges/furrows, which direction is preset by the respective Gabor filter. The surfaces are combined to an overall surface that represents the bearing surface.

Method for determining the bearing surface in skin print images

In a method and an arrangement for assessing the quality of skin print images, and particularly fingerprint images, provision is made for gradients to be formed for the individual picture elements (pixels) of the skin print image, for a mean value to be formed from the gradients of the pixels in one region of the image (tile) at a time, and for similarities in the mean values from tile to tile to form a measure of quality.

Method and arrangement for assessing the quality of skin print images

In a method of determining the region of interest in images of skin impressions, the skin having ridges and valleys and the images taking the form of image data, values within a first value range being assigned to the ridges and values within a second value range of the image data being assigned to the valleys, the values of the overall image are shifted in the direction of the first value range. The overall image is split into tiles. Mean values of the shifted values for the individual tiles are compared with a reference value. Those tiles whose mean value deviates relative to the reference value in the direction of the first value range are considered at least on a preliminary basis as belonging to the region of interest.
