A substance is described which is capable of imparting a kokumi, which shows a more excellent kokumi-imparting effect, in particular, the initial taste-imparting type of kokumi-imparting effect, which is excellent in the stability and which can easily be produced at a low cost. Additionally, a kokumi-imparting composition which includes a substance as well as a kokumi-imparting agent including the substance and other substances possessing the CaSR agonist activities in combination. More particularly, the present invention herein provides a kokumi-imparting composition consisting of &#x3b3;-Glu-Abu (L-&#x3b3;-glutamyl-L-2-amino-butyric acid) and a complex kokumi-imparting agent which includes the foregoing substance and another substance having a CaSR agonist activity, in combination.

Use of peptides for imparting kokumi

By searching various kinds of compounds having CaSR agonistic activity, the present invention provides CaSR agonistic agents, pharmaceutical compositions, preventive or therapeutic agents for diarrhea and kokumi-imparting agents each of which comprise the compound. More specifically, the present invention provides CaSR agonistic agents, pharmaceutical compositions, preventive or therapeutic agents for diarrhea and kokumi-imparting agents each of which comprise a glutamic acid derivative having CaSR agonistic activity or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof.

CaSR agonists

An object is to provide a CaSR agonist agent that has excellent CaSR agonist effects, and particularly, a pharmaceutical product that can prevent or remedy diabetes or obesity by the effect of CaSR activation. The aforementioned object is achieved by a composition that contains a compound represented by the following General Formula (I) or a salt thereof (refer to the Description for the definitions of the symbols used in the formula). 

Prophylactic or therapeutic agent for diabetes or obesity

A medicament having an excellent CaSR agonist action which enables the prevention or treatment of diabetes or obesity is provided by a composition comprising the compound represented by general formula (I) as defined, or a salt thereof.

The present invention provides a variety of compounds having a CaSR agonist activity which possesses a superior kokumi-imparting function, and more particularly provides a kokumi-imparting composition, which contains the foregoing compound, and/or another substance having a CaSR agonist activity, in combination. The present invention also provides a kokumi-imparting composition which includes a lanthionine derivative and/or another substance having a CaSR agonist activity.

Lanthionine derivatives

A substance capable of imparting a kokumi having CaSR agonist activity is described. This substance is able to impart kokumi in a superior manner, in particular, at the initial taste, and is also highly stable and can easily be produced at a low cost. The present invention thus provides a kokumi-imparting composition which includes such a substance as well as a complex kokumi-imparting composition which includes the substance and other substances possessing the CaSR agonist activities in combination. More particularly, the present invention herein provides a kokumi-imparting composition including &#x3b3;-Glu-Nva (L-&#x3b3;-glutamyl-L-norvaline), and a complex kokumi-imparting composition including the foregoing substance and another substance having a CaSR agonist activity, in combination.
