The server cover latch system includes a top panel; and, a server cover latch coupled to the top panel; the server cover latch comprising a rotating bracket component; a receptor bracket component, the rotating bracket component pivoting about a portion of the receptor bracket component when the rotating bracket component pivots between a latch open orientation and a latch closed orientation; and a bottom housing portion physically coupled to the top panel, the receptor bracket component moving laterally within the bottom housing portion when the rotating bracket component pivots between a latch open orientation and a latch closed orientation.

Apparatuses for expansion device retention. Specifically, the disclosed apparatuses implement retention mechanisms capable of being temporarily fastened to expansion slots whereat expansion devices may be installed. By fastening to the expansion slots, any permanent redesign and/or modification to the printed circuit boards, whereon the expansion slots may be mounted, may be minimized (if not eliminated). Amongst the disclosed apparatuses, an attachable hockey stick is introduced for expansion devices lacking a hockey stick shaped feature, where the attachable hockey stick engages with the aforementioned retention mechanisms to secure the expansion devices during, for example, shock events.

An enclosure for installation in a server rack has front panel access to multiple release mechanisms. The front panel access allows separate and safe dual tasking of both hot and cold swaps. A hot swap mechanism allows a sled to be ejected while retaining a connection to electrical power. A separate cold swap mechanism releases the sled and also disconnects the electrical connection. When the hot swap mechanism is engaged or enabled, one or more mechanical linkages operate to lock out access to the cold swap mechanism. When the cold swap mechanism is engaged or enabled, the mechanical linkages interferes or blocks manual operation of the hot swap mechanism. Both the hot swap mechanism and the cold swap mechanism thus cannot be inadvertently and/or simultaneously performed.

System and method for mechanical release of sleds in enclosures

An electronic module (EM) carrier includes a sliding bracket coupled to the EM carrier and a handle coupled to the sliding bracket. The handle and sliding bracket are configured to engage with a stationary chassis to hold the EM carrier at a first position in a bay of the stationary chassis when the handle is open. The sliding bracket is further configured to translate the EM carrier to a second position in the stationary chassis when the handle is moved from an open position towards a closed position. In the second position, an EM carrier connector of the EM carrier is engaged with a sled connector of a sled and, in the first position, the EM carrier connector is disengaged from the sled connector.

Electronic module carrier for an information handling system

The hard drive carrier includes a sliding bracket dimensioned to receive a hard drive, a stationary frame coupled to the sliding bracket, and a handle coupled to both the sliding bracket and the stationary frame. The handle rotates about an axis. The hard drive carrier is configured to engage with a sled at a first position while the handle is in a partially open position. The first position allows insertion of the hard drive carrier into the sled while the handle is prevented from closing. The hard drive carrier is further configured to move to a second position in the sled. The hard drive carrier transitions into a hard drive bay of the sled in the second position.

In accordance with embodiments of the present disclosure, a connector may include a housing and an electrically-conductive pin housed in the housing and configured to electrically couple to a corresponding electrically-conductive conduit of an information handling resource comprising the connector. The pin may include a beam extending from the housing and a stub terminating the pin, the stub having a per-unit-length surface area greater than that of the beam.

An externally mounted internal component retention device includes a base. A first chassis securing member extends from the base. The first chassis securing member is configured to engage a chassis to resist movement of the base relative to the chassis when the base is positioned immediately adjacent to an external mount surface on the chassis. A first internal component engagement member also extends from the base. The first internal component engagement member is configured to extend through an engagement member chassis aperture defined by the chassis and engage an internal component that is housed in the chassis to resist movement of the internal component relative to the chassis when the base is positioned immediately adjacent the external mount surface on the chassis.

A connector includes a wafer having first, second, third, and fourth communication channels. The first and second communication channels form a first differential pair, and the third and fourth communication channels form a second differential pair. The wafer includes a plug and a receptacle. The plug includes a first portion of the first, second, third, and fourth communication channels. The receptacle includes a second portion of the first, second, third, and fourth communication channels. A first crisscross is located at a first predetermined location of the first and second communication channels of the first differential pair. The first crisscross changes a first polarity of a first signal to be transmitted on the first differential pair. A second polarity of a second signal to be transmitted on the second differential pair remains the same throughout an entire length of the second differential pair.

The pivoting member may be configured to rotatably couple the latch to a chassis such that the latch may rotate between a first position and a second position relative to the chassis. The leaf-spring feature may be shaped and arranged in order to, as the latch is rotated between the first position and the second position, apply a mechanical force to a first circuit board to mate a first connector of the first circuit board to a second connector of a second circuit board.

A floating apparatus for fixing a membrane cable coupled to a fan gantry within an information handling system is disclosed. The floating apparatus includes a flange member with a horizontal planar portion and a vertical planar portion. The vertical planar portion is configured for insertion into an edge connector and includes and an overhang on the anterior side of the vertical planar portion most distal to the horizontal planar portion. The flange member is further configured to attach to a membrane cable and is connected to support members, which allow the floating apparatus to move in a plurality of alignment positions.

The pin may include an approximate connection point at which the pin electrically couples to a corresponding pin of another connector mated to the connector and a stub extending from the approximate connection point and constructed such that a per-unit-length signal propagation delay through the stub is significantly larger than a per-unit-length signal propagation delay through the remainder of the pin excluding the stub.

A latch apparatus includes a first portion having a first latch member maintained in a latched position by a first and a second resilient member. A second portion includes a second latch member maintained in a latched position by only the second resilient member. The second portion is movable both simultaneously with and independently of the first portion. An actuator is connected to move the first and second portions simultaneously.

A modular component and blank coupling apparatus includes a chassis having a wall. A component bay is defined by the chassis and is located adjacent the wall. A plurality of guide channels are defined by the wall and are located adjacent the component bay. A single securing member is moveably coupled to the wall adjacent the plurality of guide channels, wherein the single securing member is operable to move into engagement with a modular component and a blank in order to secure the modular component and the blank to the chassis, and wherein the single securing member is operable to move out of engagement with the modular component and the blank in order to allow the modular component and the blank to be removed from the chassis. The single securing member provides one apparatus that may be used to couple both blanks and modular components to the chassis, and provides a single release mechanism to release those modular components and blanks from the chassis.
